McRib is Back by Jonathan Devis
His teacher told him to take art more seriously… and here is his rebuttal on his final project.
Brilliance.
Good for him. Teachers. Meh.

Belgian artist Wim Delvoye is rolling out a new installation at the Louvre in June, composed of his iconic site-specific laser-cut metal towers. Intricate, decorative architectural spirals are made even more fascinating with Delvoye’s sly, humorous metal manipulations. Aided by the seemingly limitless possibilities of computer-aided design tools, he is able to execute mind-blowingly detailed sculptural works. Some pieces are pristine, acting as models for larger sculptural installations made of heavy, untreated steel. Once the actual pieces are created and placed in Delvoye’s chosen site, the sculptures quickly take on a rusted patina—and an instant “aged” look that makes each piece seem like it has existed there for centuries, even though it’s work that could only be made in present day.
Seung Ha we should go to this :D

“A series of hollowed-out television sets frame beguiling scenes imagined in Xiangxi’s works, begun while studying sculpture at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Art.
Situated in a small creative community in Hei Qiao Cun on the northeastern edge of the city, his studio is littered with second-hand appliances like washing machines, which become the sites of miniature worlds inspired by locations such as his old workspace in Guangzhou, the workers’ dormitory he once lived in, his parent’s sitting room, the interior of a train carriage—even his dream home. They are replicas rendered faithfully, but playfully, often using the cement, brick, glass, stone or paper materials found in their life-sized equivalents.”
my friend from image and idea made something similar to this but w/music box
(but I would want to do this for my scholarship wall…maybe more childlike TV house)

Today someone reblogged something of mine and commented about being discouraged about art sometimes, which reminded me of this.
A family friend’s 6 or 7 year old daughter used to love to draw, but she started to find it frustrating, and so her mom asked me if I could give her daughter any advice. I ended up drawing/writing her this letter. I’d never really intended to show it to other people besides them, but when I saw that post today, I thought maybe it’s relevant!
Sage (and adorable) art advice from Korra BG painter Emily Tetri.

Vertical Papercut Landscape by Eiko Ojala
Emulating the majestic mountain landscapes of traditional Japanese paintings with a tiny, comforting house amidst the backdrop of a lordly, myst-shrouded goliath, achieved in Eiko’s minimalist papercut style. I want to go there. Don’t come looking for me.
